About Us

The Story

The Mulch Men of Bronxville was first conceived of back in late 2017 by my brother, Luke Freeman, and his co-founder, Jed Hodulik. They were sophomores at the time, and came up with the business concept after noticing that what Bronxville landscapers charge for mulching was too expensive for many to afford. After he left for college, I (Jeremy Freeman) took over along with Jed's brothers (Paul and Charlie Hodulik), continuing their legacy of providing cheap and high-quality mulching services. This year, on top of our regularly scheduled jobs, we are offering both spring-break mulching and possibly even late-season mulching depending on availability.

What is "mulching" and why do I need it?

Mulching is the process in which you layer a combination of wood chips and fertilizer as a protective layer for your garden. We apply an even layer of mulch, roughly 2-4 inches thick depending on the type of mulch you request, which is incredibly beneficial to your plants. When done correctly, mulching increases the soil's ability to hold water, cools plants' roots during the summer, and increases necessary nutrients (such as phosphorus and nitrogen) in the soil. If that was not enough, mulching also boosts the biological activity of earthworms, microbes, and other soil organisms, which are beneficial to plant growth!
